POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
Mountain Pawlytechnic offers positive reinforcement clicker training. Just what is clicker training? Clicker training is the use of a small, handheld clicker, which serves as a marker signal. It is a science-based system for teaching behavior. Trainers use a marker signal (the sound of the clicker) to tell the animal when it’s doing the thing that will pay off. In traditional training, the trainer tells an animal what to do, makes that behavior happen (using force if necessary), rewards good results, and punishes mistakes. In clicker training, the trainer watches for the desired behavior, marks the instant it happens with a click, and pays off with a treat. The treat may be food, a pat, praise, or anything else the animal enjoys. If the animal makes a mistake, the trainer waits and lets it try again.
HERE FOR YOU!
Mountain Pawlytechnic offeres private lessons in several formats. With private lessons, your specific and unique interests and concerns are addressed. Your sessions, 60 to 90 minutes in length, will focus on not only actively training your pup, also on making sure your needs are understood and that you are comfortable with the instruction.
Lessons are not limited to taking place in your home or at the Mountain Pawlytechnic school site. When appropriate, lessons will take place at the dog park, on a walk, or while your pup engages with other canines.
